Die Gewinnerinnen von Tricky Women 2015
Der Tricky Women Preis der Stadt Wien (dotiert mit 4.000 Euro) geht an Veronika Obertová und Michaela Čopíková aus der Slowakei für ihren Film "Nina" (SK 2014). Das dreimonatige Arbeitsstipendium des Artist-in-Residence-Programms im quartier21/MQ erhält die britische Filmemacherin Kasia Nalewajka für "Pineapple Calamari" (UK 2014). Den Synchro Film&Video-Sachpreis gewinnt "My Milk Cup Cow" (JP 2014) von Yantong Zhu. Für die Filme "The Bigger Picture" (UK 2014) von Daisy Jacobs und "Mythopolis" (CZ 2013) von Alexandra Hetmerová vergab die Jury jeweils eine spezielle Erwähnung. Der mit 750 Euro dotierte Hubert Sielecki-Preis für einen österreichischen Animationsfilm geht an Maria Chalela-Puccini für "An Educated Woman" (AT 2014). Auch das Publikum war gefragt, schließlich galt es den Sawczynski-Publikumspreis, dotiert mit 1.000 Euro, zu vergeben. Die Entscheidung der Zuschauer_innen fiel auf "Mythopolis" (CZ 2013) von Alexandra Hetmerová. Der Lomography-Publikumspreis für eine österreichische Animation geht an "Taipei Recyclers" von Nikki Schuster.

Tricky Women Preis der Stadt Wien, dotiert mit 4.000 Euro:
"Nina" von Veronika Obertová, Michaela Čopíková (Ové Pictures), SK 2014
Die Geschichte eines ängstlichen Buben und eines Waldmädchens, deren Furcht sie gleichzeitig verbindet und trennt. In ihrer Fantasie wird das Band zwischen ihnen allmächtig. Doch als Freundschaft zu Liebe wird, macht sich die Furcht auf unerwartete Art bemerkbar.
Jury-Statement: "Nina" is a complete film – a little animated treasure. We appreciated it’s beautiful, deep and strong message about fighting our inner fears, a thing that we all know so well. Nina is full of well thought-through original ideas and lovely details that make you smile and fall in love the medium of animation again. Nina’s carefully built narration, the use of intertexture and its work with multi-layers convinced us to award it with the Tricky Women Award of the City of Vienna for 2015. As the film says itself “sometimes it’s not easy, sometimes it’s difficult” but this time it was pretty easy for us.

"Pineapple Calamari" von Kasia Nalewajka, UK 2014
Pineapple Calamari träumt vom Triumph beim Pferderennen – doch als ein Unglück die beiden unzertrennlichen Frauen trifft, die seine Liebe zum Rennsport teilen, rückt der Derby-Sieg in weite Ferne.
Jury-Statement: This outrageously funny film about two sisters, one horse and one little hen made us laugh but also think about the importance of selfless friendship and the complicated everyday evolution of all our relationships. We were happy to see this piece of animated art from a courageous animator who’s not afraid to employed sometimes very bizarre and silly humor that doesn’t need to please everyone. Also its perfectly fitting clay animation helps to keep the rhythm and dynamic of the film even when it breaks into some more serious moments. We also loved the detailed, precise mise-en-scene and the way Kasia uses the three-dimensional space. We believe that the 3-month scholarship to live and work at quartier 21/MQ under the Artist-in-Residence Program will bring Kasia many more such original, courageous and funny ideas.
Synchro Film&Video-Sachpreis im Wert von 1.500 Euro
"My Milk Cup Cow" von Yantong Zhu, JP 2014
Nunus Vater erzählt der Vierjährigen, dass am Boden ihres Milchbechers eine Kuh ist. Nunu trinkt ihre Milch aus – doch da ist keine Kuh. Allmählich hört die Tochter auf, ihrem Vater Glauben zu schenken.
Jury-Statement: This film caught our hearts with its wonderful portrait of a father-daughter relationship and its beautiful way of looking at world in general. “My Milk Cup Cow” is full of sweet and poetic details that give us an insight into everyday life, animated in such a beautiful way that you almost feel like you’re there, living in the story. We appreciated that the author chose the path of rather small narration in order to get a deeper, meaningful look at the evolution of this father-daughter relationship.

"The Bigger Picture" von Daisy Jacobs, UK 2014
Der Film erzählt anhand lebensgroßer, animierter Figuren die Geschichte zweier Brüder, die sich um ihre alternde Mutter kümmern. Mit Witz und Wärme wird dargestellt, wie die Brüder eine Situation bewältigen, mit der jede_r von uns eines Tages konfrontiert sein wird. Oscar®-Nominierung 2015.
Jury-Statement: With this special mention, we want to appreciate the unique combination of so many animation techniques and its visual mastery. We see this film as a beautiful example of the passion for animation itself, a great illustration why the time-consuming animating process is so worth it in the end.
"Mythopolis" von Alexandra Hetmerová, CZ 2013
Berühmte Figuren der griechischen Mythologie leben in der heutigen Welt – und das schafft gewisse Probleme.
Jury-Statement: With this special mention, we want to appreciate the beautiful original world that Alexandra invented in her film. Thanks to all the lovely animation details and so many silly, unorthodox characters we were allowed to live for a while in a mythological world full of love for animation.

Hubert Sielecki-Preis für einen österreichischen Animationsfilm, dotiert mit 750 Euro für „An Educated Woman“ von Maria Chalela-Puccini, AT 2014.
Begründung Hubert Sielecki: Zwischen Selbstwahrnehmung und Fremdbestimmung. Dieser Film handelt vom großen inneren Dilemma zwischen dem, was man sein soll und dem was man sein will. Eine kurze, auf Glas gemalte Animation zum Thema "Frau in unserer Gesellschaft" ist das DER ideale Preisfilm bei Tricky Women 2015.
