Ausschreibung

Fondazione Torino Musei is launching a public selection process to appoint the Directorships of Artissima, Turin's International Contemporary Art Fair, in view of the imminent expiry of the current term of office, scheduled for early 2027. More information ⤇ here.

Applications must be received no later than 12pm noon CET on March 30, 2026, in accordance with the procedures indicated in the call for applications.

The procedure aims to identify high-profile candidates with proven artistic, administrative and managerial skills, able to fulfil a directorial role at Artissima srl, within the complex organisational model of Fondazione Torino Musei, which requires strong coordination, process integration and cross-sector collaboration skills.

The appointment will be for a four-year term, covering the 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030 editions.

Candidates will be assessed by an evaluation committee specially appointed by Fondazione Torino Musei. The outcome of the selection process will be published on the website.

The person appointed to the position of Director will be responsible for the overall management of Fiera Artissima, for the quality of the services offered and for the proper organisational functioning of the event, assuming full responsibility for an event of a dual commercial and cultural nature, operating in a highly competitive context at national and international level.

The Director will be entrusted with the task of strengthening the international positioning of the Fair, ensuring excellence, innovation and recognition of the artistic works proposed, as well as developing managerial, financial and commercial policies geared towards sustainability, operational efficiency and the growth of Artissima.

The ideal candidate will have a balance of high artistic skills and solid managerial abilities, a qualified knowledge of international contemporary art, established relationships in the art market, as well as experience in business management, cultural and trade fair event management, and the development of marketing, communication and institutional relations strategies, preferably acquired in the contemporary art sector.

A key element of the role is the ability to develop and implement a strategic plan for the Fair, consistent with the programmes of Fondazione Torino Musei, to be implemented through the definition of annual objectives within a three-year programme, in order to promote the development of shared and synergistic projects with the Fondazione’s system.

The role also includes responsibility for the development and promotion of the Artissima brand through the conception and implementation of special projects and curatorial initiatives, in line with the cultural guidelines and structures of Fondazione Torino Musei, while respecting the operational autonomy of the Fair.

Since 1994, Artissima has served as a privileged observatory of international contemporary art in Turin, distinguishing itself through the rigour of its curatorial research, the quality of its artistic proposals, and the calibre of its participating galleries. Over time, the fair has consolidated its position as a leading actor within the contemporary art system, assuming the role of an international point of reference and contributing decisively to Turins standing not only within the global circuit of fairs and cultural events, but also as a national benchmark for contemporary art.

Galleries from five continents, selected through a highly selective curatorial framework, bring to Turin a high-profile programme capable of reconciling artistic research with the dynamics of the market, thereby reinforcing the fairs international reputation as a platform of trust and innovation within the contemporary art fair landscape. Artissima is further distinguished by an extensive programme of special projects and collateral initiatives that engage the citys wider cultural ecosystem, fostering dialogue with institutions, museum networks, and new generations of collectors.

It is a fair that has made curation and research—supported by a distinctive and consistently articulated cultural vision—its defining characteristics, enabling it to build and sustain a unique identity on the international stage. Each edition of Artissima reaffirms its dual nature as both a marketplace and an institution: a site of economic exchange, but equally a space for critical inquiry and cultural diplomacy, capable of stimulating reflection on the civic and symbolic role of art in contemporary society.

The Fair is managed by Artissima Srl, a company wholly owned by Fondazione Torino Musei, which is responsible for selecting the Director.
