Fotografie-Workshop mit Rinko Kawauchi

KUNST HAUS WIEN and Still/Moving are delighted to announce a workshop with Rinko Kawauchi - one of the world's most enigmatic photographic talents. The workshop will run in conjunction with the first comprehensive retrospective of the photographer in Europe and will be held between July 2-5, 2015, in Hundertwasser´s extraordinary apartment on the rooftop of KUNST HAUS WIEN. The workshop This will be a four day practical workshop, giving you an opportunity to create new work or develop an existing project with the help of Rinko Kawauchi and the other participants. Due to her great experience of editing and sequencing photographs for photo books, slideshows and exhibitions, Rinko Kawauchi will shed light on and help edit your own photographic projects. This workshop will be particularly suited to photographers and artists with an existing body of work who are working towards making a book, although Rinko will also offer guidance to those more generally exploring their photographic practice. 2–5 July 2015: Workshop daily from 10 am to 6 pm 5 July 2015, 7 pm: Closing evening and presentation with invited representatives of the Viennese art world Rinko Kawauchi Rinko Kawauchi (born 1972 in Japan) has found acclaim worldwide for her nuanced use of colour, the unerring mastery of her compositions and her ability to turn the mundane into the sublime. The artist launched her international career in 2001, when she published three breakthrough photo books simultaneously – Utatane, Hanabi and Hanako – thereby securing her position as one of the most innovative artists in contemporary photography. By now she has published seventeen books many of which have received awards and has been exhibited internationally. She is represented by the galleries Priska Pasquer (Cologne), Meessen de Clercq (Brussels) and Christoph Guye (Zurich). Her latest solo show is on display until July 5, 2015 at the KUNST HAUS WIEN. Venue The workshop will take place in Friedensreich Hundertwasser’s extraordinary apartment, on the roof of the KUNST HAUS WIEN. The 5th floor space, which he designed for himself and features an undulating floor and a spectacular roof garden complete with mature trees, will provide an inspiring space for the sharing and discussion of work. Details The participation fee is € 600,- (excl. 20% VAT) for four days. Once participants have been selected they will be expected to pay a non-refundable deposit of € 300,- within ten days. Participants must then pay the remaining balance one week before the start of the workshop. The price includes: * Tuition from Rinko Kawauchi * Daily lunch and closing evening * Assistance from the KUNST HAUS WIEN production team Participants should make their own travel plans and find their own accommodation. We recommend the nearby Ruby Sofie Hotel or AirB&B. For photographers using colour film we will connect you with a lab and provide a scanner. Photographers shooting digital should bring the necessary equipment, especially a laptop. Every effort will be made to accommodate individual technical needs. Rinko Kawauchi has asked that photographers bring as many prints of their work as possible, and not to over edit their work in advance.
