Frieze Artist Award

Applications Now Open via artistaward.friezeartfair.com The Frieze Artist Award, this year supported by the LUMA Foundation, is a major opportunity to present ambitious, site-specific work as part of the Frieze Projects programme. The Award is open to UK and international artists between 25–40 years of age. Frieze is delighted that the LUMA Foundation will be the exclusive partner of the Frieze Artist Award for the next three years. Artists are invited to propose a new work to be realized at Frieze London 2015 as part of its critically acclaimed Frieze Projects programme, produced under the guidance of curator Nicola Lees and the Frieze Projects team. Proposals should respond to the environment of the London fair. Applicants will be judged on the innovative nature of their proposal and the potential for its realization at Frieze London. Entrance to the Award is by open submission and further details on the scope of the Award are detailed below. The award will include a budget of up to £20,000 for production, research and development, artist fees and travel expenses. Frieze will be accepting applications from 10 January 2015 at 10:00 GMT. The closing date for applications is 10 February 2015 at 17:00 GMT. The winner of the Award will be selected by an international panel of artists and curators (TBA) and announced in May 2015. Now in its second year, the Frieze Artist Award sits within a rich history ?of artist awards presented at Frieze London, including the Emdash Award (2011-2013) and the Cartier Award (2006-2010). The winner of the inaugural Frieze Artist Award was French artist Mélanie Matranga. One of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs, Frieze London will take place from 14 to 17 October 2015 in Regent’s Park, London and is sponsored by Deutsche Bank.
